2011 Motorhome & Caravan Show Breaks Records
We went to this year’s Motorhome and Caravan show, and it turns out we were amongst a record number of people. It would appear then that the Caravanning industry is remaining strong through this difficult financial period.
In total, 93,323 people attended the show and 83,401 of those people were paying visitors.

The news is good all round though as the manufacturers and dealers at the show also generally reported a significant increase in sales compared to other exhibitions which were similar in terms of the location or the time of year. Saturday (15th October) was the busiest day and saw 25,912 come through the doors.
The NCC (National Caravan Council) organised the event and it’s pretty impressive to be breaking records at the first attempt. They’re also promoting a similar event, the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show at the ExCel in London in February 2012. The NCC took over the running of the October NEC show this year and promised to reduce the costs for visitors and exhibitors. For the former, the cheapest tickets were £7 and full adult tickets were £10 at their most expensive.
The main supporters of the show were The Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club. As a closing statement, John Lally who is CEO of the NCC said “The public now know they can come to shows and find an unrivalled range of products, information, advice and entertainment and all for a great value ticket price.”
